4 Ways to Brew Coffee on the Go

If you love coffee but are constantly moving between places, this is the post for you. Whether you’re going for the office, camping, hiking, or traveling abroad, coffee is pretty much non-negotiable as it helps keep our nerves in check and helps us focus whenever we’re on the go.

Ever since we transitioned into the 21st century, coffee has never been more accessible or simpler to prepare, especially for our travels.

But keep in mind that no matter what brewing method you choose, you must have the essentials at hand, like your favorite brand of coffee beans, how to measure them, and a portable grinder.

1. Single-Serving Pour Overs

This method of brewing coffee has been picking up in popularity because of how easy it is to use and more importantly, it’s portability. It tastes just like a regular pour-over and interestingly, some brands even like to include milk and sugar in the packages. In fact, it’s so simplistic that all you need is hot water.

Method

With single-serving pour overs, you get a pouch filled with coffee grounds and a paper frame. The frame expands so it can hook to the side of your mug. Set the frame up and then pour only an ounce of boiling water over the grounds and let the filter rest for 15 to 30 seconds. Then pour whatever ounces of hot water there on the grounds and presto!

2. AeroPress

The Aeropress is another great way to make a sweet, full-bodied coffee for your traveling needs. What’s more is that it’s compact and virtually invulnerable. In just 3 or 4 minutes, you can brew yourself a fresh cuppa joe, making it great for camping, going out in your RV or even backpacking. There are numerous brewing methods for this product, but we prefer the inverted one the most.

Inverted Brewing Method

Measure about 17 grams of coffee grounds and then grind them. Place the plunger on a flat surface while facing up. Then place the back of the base of the plunger’s top and slightly insert it. Dump the coffee grounds into the base. Then fill part way with one cup of hot water and have it sit for 20 seconds. Next, fill the compartment and wait another minute and a half. Later at two minutes, screw the filter to the top and place the cup upside down on the filter’s top. Finally, flip the Aeropress over and press slowly down on the plunger.

3. Moka Pot

What is the one thing that can give you a strong, Italian-style espresso without electricity or even batteries? A Moka Pot. You can also easily turn it into an Americano by just adding hot water. Also, you don’t even need to buy any paper filters since the Moka Pot comes with its own metal filter basket.

Method

Grind about 20 to 22 grams of coffee. Fill the pot’s bottom reservoir with boiling water. Then evenly fill the filter basket with ground coffee and then have it placed into the bottom compartment. Screw the spouted top on and place the pot on a stove at medium heat. The hissing sound will serve as the signal that it’s done brewing.

4. French Press

The French Press works very much like the AeroPress, but the best part is that you can make multiple cups at a time. Most prefer this device because it’s quick and very consistent for coffee lovers who are on the move. The glass carafe that comes with the device is pretty, but if you prefer a more durable option, then go for models that ones made of stainless steel.

Method

Put about 56 grams or 8 tablespoons of coarse coffee grounds into the press. Start a timer and pour hot water halfway to the top. Ensure that all of the coffee grounds are saturated. Then after a minute, break the top layer and fill it with water, all the way to the top. Then at 4 minutes, push the press completely down.
